Two men have been arrested by the Kaneshie Divisional Police Command for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a patrol operation at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
The suspects, identified as Kwame Boahen, 35, a plumber, and Alfred Ahassan, 32, a sachet water dealer, were intercepted on a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate on Saturday, December 20.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the arrest stemmed from an incident the previous day when officers attempted a routine check on the motorbike. The suspects allegedly ignored police signals, abandoned the bike, and fled on foot before being apprehended after a brief chase.
A search revealed a rusted pistol bearing number 3963 marked “CS HEAND SUH,” two magazines, three mobile phones, and a USB drive. The motorbike has been impounded for evidential purposes, and efforts are underway to trace its owner.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
