Ten Arrested Over Viral Video Showing Abuse of Two Women in Wassa Dawurampong

The Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), working in collaboration with the Western Central Regional Police Command, has arrested ten suspects captured in a viral video assaulting two young women in Wassa Dawurampong in the Western Region.

The disturbing video, which circulated widely on social media, showed the women being physically harassed and subjected to degrading treatment by a group of men who accused them of stealing money from a gold-buying shop.

According to a statement issued by the Regional Police Command, three of the men identified in the footage — Eric Donkor, known as Killer Block, aged 32; Yaw Gyimah, 29; and Edmond Nartey, 24 — were seen cutting the victims’ scalps with a sharp razor.

Another suspect, identified as Tawiah, also known as Awaga, who was allegedly captured on video shaving through one of the women’s scalps, is currently on the run. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.

Seven additional suspects — Stephen Amu, 24; Farouk Balas, 18; Mensah Bernard, 18; Adu Baggeo, 23; Bismark Nyarko, 30; Akwesi Poku George, 18; and Oteng Alfred, 23 — were also taken into custody for aiding and abetting the assault.

Police say the suspects will be screened, after which the main perpetrators will be arraigned before court.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are working to locate the victims to provide them with medical care and psychological support. The Police Administration has assured the public that it is committed to ensuring the victims receive all necessary assistance.

The Western Central Regional Police Command also cautioned the public against meting out instant justice, urging that all suspected offenders be handed over to police for investigations and due process.
