UG Initiates Disciplinary Processes After Heated On-Air Altercation Between Two Senior Lecturers

The University of Ghana has commenced internal disciplinary proceedings following a widely circulated video capturing a confrontation between two of its senior academic members during a live television programme.

The incident, involving Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, occurred on Saturday, 15th November 2025, during an appearance on The Key Points, a current affairs show aired on TV3. In the video, a panel discussion reportedly degenerated into a personal and heated exchange between the two lecturers, sparking widespread public reaction.

In a statement issued by Management and dated 21st November 2025, the University said the conduct of the two academics breached the expected standards of professionalism and decorum required of senior members of the institution. It added that the University’s Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011) oblige Management to initiate steps to review such behaviour.

“The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity and decorum from all faculty and staff, and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements,” the statement emphasized.

Management assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken after the necessary internal reviews, stressing its commitment to safeguarding the dignity of the University and maintaining public confidence in the institution.
