Defence and Interior Committee Monitors Military Recruitment Centres in Accra

The Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior has undertaken monitoring visits to military recruitment centres in Accra to assess safety and operational measures instituted by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The exercise, according to the Committee, was aimed at ensuring a smooth and orderly selection process while preventing future mishaps. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. William Agyapong, accompanied members of the Committee to the centres, which included El-Wak Sports Stadium, Ghana Air Force Aviation College, and Nicholson Stadium.

Reports from the inspection indicated that the recruitment exercise was proceeding smoothly, with only minor internet connectivity challenges. Systems to curb document falsification were also found to be effective.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. James Agalga, commended the GAF for swiftly introducing new measures to avert a recurrence of the tragic incident that occurred at El-Wak Stadium on 12 November 2025.

The Committee’s visit underscores Parliament’s commitment to oversight in national security matters and highlights the importance of maintaining transparency and safety in military recruitment processes.
