Finance Minister, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, has presented the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, outlining government’s plan to reset the economy for growth, job creation, and transformation.
The Minister said the budget seeks to consolidate macroeconomic stability by sustaining fiscal discipline, strengthening revenue mobilisation, and ensuring responsible debt management. He assured lawmakers that inflation is projected to remain on a firm downward trajectory towards optimal levels.
Dr. Forson also announced the scrapping of the Covid levy, a measure he described as part of government’s efforts to ease the burden on citizens while maintaining prudent fiscal policies.
In the coming days, Members of Parliament will debate the budget and scrutinize estimates for Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and independent constitutional bodies before giving final approval.
The 2026 Budget, according to the Finance Minister, represents a decisive step towards economic recovery and long-term transformation, positioning Ghana on a path of sustainable growth.
