Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has made a significant announcement that’s set to bring relief to prospective Hajj pilgrims.
During a meeting with the Hajj Task Force and other stakeholders at the Hajj Village on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa revealed that passports for Hajj pilgrims will now be issued within an impressive three-day timeframe, with a maximum processing time of 72 hours.
This move is expected to streamline the travel preparation process for pilgrims, ensuring a smoother and more efficient experience.
Additionally, the Minister confirmed that the passport fee will remain at 500 cedis, with no special or extra charges.
”Passport fee still remain 500 cedis, no special fee or extra charge” He stressed.
Mr. Ablakwa has been working to improve passport services in Ghana. Previously, he proposed five key reforms aimed at enhancing operations at the Passport Office, including 24-hour operations, full modernization of the passport application process, and a reduction in passport application fees
