Parliament Issues Media Guidelines for 2027 Budget Presentation

Parliament has announced a set of guidelines for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the presentation of Ghana’s 2027 Budget Statement, scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2026.

In a notice signed by the Director of Media Relations, Mr David Sebastian-Damoah, Parliament said the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, will present the budget to the House in accordance with Article 179(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

According to the Parliamentary Service, all journalists covering the event must obtain accreditation, warning that failure to secure accreditation will result in denial of access to Parliament’s premises and designated coverage areas.

The notice further stated that interested journalists and media houses are required to submit their applications no later than Monday, November 9, 2026.

As part of the security and access arrangements, accredited journalists must visibly display their accreditation passes throughout the event and remain within the areas assigned to them.

Parliament also directed that all interviews and live broadcasts be conducted at the foyer on the ground floor of the Chamber Block. Space at the venue, the notice added, will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The guidelines prohibit media personnel from conducting photography, interviews or any other media-related activities in the lobby of the Speaker of Parliament, which has been declared out of bounds.

Additionally, journalists have been advised to restrict their activities primarily to the Press Gallery, while the Public Gallery has been designated for guests attending the budget presentation.

All media houses, reporters and their equipment will be subjected to security screening before being granted access to the event.

Parliament urged journalists and media organisations to strictly comply with the directives as part of measures to ensure the smooth and secure presentation of the 2027 Budget Statement.

Applications for accreditation are to be submitted through Parliament’s official channels, with media practitioners encouraged to meet the stated deadline to facilitate processing.
