President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned four diplomats to represent Ghana abroad, tasking them with advancing the country’s economic diplomacy agenda through the attraction of strategic investments, expansion of trade and creation of economic opportunities for Ghanaians.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, October 16, 2026, saw the swearing-in of Her Excellency Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo as Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Angola, His Excellency Louis Kwame Obeng as Ambassador-Designate to the State of Qatar, Her Excellency Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable as Ambassador-Designate to the State of Israel, and His Excellency Jedidiah Reuben Adogla as Permanent Representative-Designate to Switzerland.
President Mahama urged the envoys to serve as ambassadors not only of Ghana’s political interests but also of its economic transformation agenda.
He charged them to deepen bilateral relations, strengthen international partnerships and open new markets for Ghanaian businesses while working to attract foreign direct investment into key sectors of the economy.
The President further encouraged the diplomats to promote industrialisation and support efforts aimed at ensuring greater value addition to Ghana’s natural resources, noting that economic diplomacy remains central to the country’s development aspirations.
He also stressed the need for the envoys to safeguard the welfare and interests of Ghanaians living in their respective host countries and provide effective consular support whenever required.
On international affairs, President Mahama reiterated Ghana’s commitment to its longstanding foreign policy principles, including support for a peaceful two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly commissioned diplomats and urged them to uphold Ghana’s reputation while pursuing opportunities that would contribute to national growth and prosperity.
The appointments form part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic engagement and leverage international partnerships for economic development and mutual cooperation.
