Police Arrest Suspect for Firearms Possession, Death Threats and Drug Cultivation in Volta Region

The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man for unlawful possession of firearms, threats of death and the cultivation of suspected narcotic substances.

The suspect, identified as Saviour Dzadze, was arrested on Wednesday, September 14, 2026, at Kpando Circuit Court premises after he was linked to a series of criminal activities within the region.

According to a police statement, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by one Mr. Dzoki Kofi Kpakpamkpe, who alleged that the suspect had threatened to kill him at gunpoint.

Subsequent investigations led police to conduct a search at the suspect’s residence, where officers retrieved one pump-action shotgun, one AK-47 assault rifle, one locally manufactured single-barrel gun, ten rounds of AAA lion cartridges ammunition and a quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

Police investigations further revealed that the suspect allegedly traded in the cultivated substance, which he reportedly exchanged for an AK-47 assault rifle from an unidentified individual in Togo.

The statement also indicated that the pump-action shotgun recovered during the operation had been inherited from the suspect’s brother, Foster Dzadze, while the locally manufactured firearm was inherited from his late father, Mathereous Dzadze.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court on Friday, September 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Volta North Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating crime in the region and disclosed that efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals connected to the case.

The police urged members of the public to support law enforcement agencies with credible information to help curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and illicit drug-related activities.
