Parliament Clarifies Notice on 2026/2027 National Service Postings

Parliament has clarified that a notice displayed to prospective National Service personnel indicating “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting” does not represent a policy shift regarding the National Service Scheme.

In a statement issued on October 5, 2026, Parliament said the notice had been misconstrued on social media, leading to speculation about a possible freeze on National Service placements within the institution.

According to Parliament, the notice was merely a routine administrative message intended for prospective personnel who had reported to Parliament for placement.

The statement explained that the purpose of the notice was to inform applicants that Parliament had received more National Service personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year and that excess personnel should seek reposting to other institutions.

“It was not a policy statement, a freeze on national service placements, or a reflection of any change in Parliament’s support for the National Service Scheme,” the statement emphasized.

Parliament reaffirmed its commitment to the National Service Scheme and acknowledged the important role National Service personnel continue to play in supporting the institution’s work.

The legislature also expressed regret over any confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the notice.

The clarification comes amid widespread public commentary following the circulation of the notice on various social media platforms.
