The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced a new producer price of GH¢2,650 per 64kg bag of cocoa for the 2026/2027 crop season, effective Friday, September 25, 2026.
According to the Board, the new price translates to GH¢42,400 per tonne and represents 71.18 percent of the Realized Gross Free-on-Board (FOB) price for the season.
The announcement comes at a time when the producer price has become a subject of public debate, with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) recently contending that the figure falls short of the 70 percent statutory minimum required under Section 57 of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 2026 (Act 1182), and that COCOBOD’s realised Gross FOB price does not support the stated percentage.
COCOBOD’s graphic, however, indicates that the Board itself puts farmers’ share of the Realized Gross FOB at 71.18 percent, above the statutory threshold.
Further details on the full computation behind the figure, including the realised Gross FOB price and how it was arrived at, are yet to be published by the Board.
