Ghana is set to finalise the allocation of spectrum for 5G services and commence deployment by December 2026, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced.
The initiative forms part of government’s pledge to enhance the quality and reliability of telecommunications while widening access to faster mobile connectivity nationwide.
Mr. George explained that the Ministry will also introduce measures aimed at improving network performance, including a road‑excavation coordination framework and an Emergency Telecommunications Framework. Under the new arrangements, operators will be required to meet upgraded network‑quality benchmarks.
Addressing the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House in Accra, the Minister stressed that poor network service would no longer be tolerated.
“The work is far from finished, and I will not pretend otherwise. But the direction is unmistakable, the results are measurable, and the resolve of this Ministry is unshaken,” he said.
