President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Accra Reset, a strategic blueprint for a fairer global economic order, during the 65th Anniversary High-Level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Belgrade.
Blueprint for Justice and Sovereignty
The Accra Reset is anchored on resource sovereignty, local industrialisation, fair trade, and stronger South‑South cooperation. Mahama described it as a pathway to rebalance global economic relations and empower developing nations to chart their own destiny.
Climate Finance and Energy Transition
Calling for greater climate finance, adaptation support, and renewable energy investment, Mahama urged NAM countries to push for equitable climate action. He stressed that Ghana’s upcoming 2027 AU Chairmanship and its leadership of the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change will provide a platform to advance Africa’s collective interests.
Bridging the Digital Divide
Mahama also challenged NAM members to bridge the digital divide, ensuring they become active participants in AI development and governance rather than passive consumers of technology. “We must not be left behind in shaping the rules of the digital age,” he emphasized.
Ghana’s Global Role
The unveiling of the Accra Reset underscores Ghana’s growing leadership in shaping international discourse — from reparatory justice at the UN to climate negotiations and digital governance. Mahama’s interventions position Ghana as a bridge between Africa, the Global South, and the wider international community.
