GoldBod Projects $1.4 Billion FX Generation for September

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced that it will generate US$1.4 billion in foreign exchange in September 2026 under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP), reinforcing its role in stabilizing the foreign exchange market and supporting reserve accumulation.

According to the Finance and Trading Directorate, US$700 million will be made available to commercial banks through spot sales and funded forward arrangements to support market stability, while another US$700 million will be provided to the Bank of Ghana for reserve accumulation.

The announcement follows August’s performance, where GoldBod generated US$1.315 billion, with US$668.21 million sold directly to commercial banks and US$646.59 million allocated to the central bank.

GoldBod emphasized that the initiative, approved by Cabinet and Parliament, is part of a new collaborative financing model for artisanal and small‑scale mining operations. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and its statutory mandate to generate foreign exchange for Ghana.

The update underscores the government’s broader strategy to strengthen reserves, stabilize the cedi, and ensure sustainable financing through domestic resource mobilization.
