The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned the assault on Mr. Abdulai Zackaria, Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the incident as unacceptable and contrary to the values of discipline and peaceful coexistence in schools.
In a statement issued on August 5, 2026, the Service confirmed that Mr. Zackaria was attacked in the line of duty. The GES emphasized that such acts undermine the authority of school leadership and compromise the safe environment required for effective teaching and learning.
The Public Relations Unit, led by Daniel Fenyi, noted that immediate steps are being taken to address the matter. The Service assured stakeholders that investigations are underway and appropriate measures will be applied to safeguard the integrity of educational institutions.
“The Ghana Education Service reiterates its commitment to ensuring discipline in schools and calls on all stakeholders to foster peaceful coexistence,” the statement read.
The incident has sparked concern among education authorities and the wider public, with calls for stronger enforcement of discipline and respect for school administrators.
