The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, today opened the Bank of Ghana–Chartered Institute of Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners (CIRIP) Ghana Forum on Non-Performing Loans and Post-Commencement Financing at Bank Square.
Addressing participants, Dr. Asiama underscored the importance of a disciplined business rescue framework that supports viable enterprises while safeguarding overall financial stability. He stressed that post-commencement financing must be anchored in commercial viability, transparency, sound credit risk management, and accountability.
The Governor urged stronger collaboration among banks, insolvency practitioners, and other stakeholders to build a predictable, risk-sensitive framework. Such a framework, he noted, would not only strengthen Ghana’s financial system but also underpin sustainable economic growth.
The forum brought together financial sector leaders and restructuring experts to deliberate on strategies for addressing non-performing loans and enhancing post-commencement financing practices. Dr. Asiama’s remarks highlighted the central role of disciplined governance and stakeholder cooperation in ensuring that business rescue mechanisms contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic resilience.
