President John Dramani Mahama today visited the Akosombo Dam to assess the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) substation that was damaged by fire, an incident which resulted in the loss of more than 1,000 megawatts from the national grid.
The President toured the site and inspected ongoing restoration works, commending engineers for their swift and professional response in tackling the emergency. He assured that government remains committed to restoring stable power supply and strengthening the resilience of Ghana’s energy infrastructure.
Officials at the dam briefed the President on progress made so far, noting that efforts are underway to bring affected units back online. The visit underscored government’s determination to safeguard critical national assets and ensure reliable electricity for households and businesses across the country.
