Vice President Commissions ICT Centre in Sankana to Boost Digital Access

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commissioned the Pognaa Piirima Maaluma ICT Centre in Sankana, Nadowli-Kaleo District, as part of activities marking the Kalibi Ganlaa Festival.

The newly established facility is expected to expand digital access in the community by providing schoolchildren and residents with shared access to computers, reliable internet connectivity, digital learning resources, as well as training and technical support services.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice President underscored the transformative role of technology in modern society. She noted that access to digital tools creates pathways to knowledge, broadens opportunities, and strengthens economic participation. “Digitally connected communities are better positioned to compete, innovate, and thrive in a modern economy,” she emphasized.

She expressed Government’s appreciation to the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) for its efficiency, responsiveness, and commitment to inclusive national development. The Vice President also acknowledged the contributions of individuals and stakeholders whose time, expertise, and resources made the project possible.

The commissioning of the ICT Centre forms part of broader efforts to bridge the digital divide and ensure that rural communities are not left behind in Ghana’s technological advancement.
