Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Indian National in Kumasi

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of one person in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, in Kumasi.

According to a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters on April 26, 2026, the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

The deceased had earlier been reported missing, prompting police efforts to locate him. On April 25, at about 2:00 p.m., officers received information that Singh’s vehicle had been found abandoned at the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near Royal Lemosey Hospital. Upon inspection, police discovered his lifeless body in the boot of the vehicle with multiple stab wounds.

The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has since been impounded to aid further investigations.

The Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special team comprising intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Command in pursuing the case. The police assured the public that every effort is being made to bring all perpetrators to justice and appealed to anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigation.
