President Mahama Inspects Construction of New Cardiology Centre in Tamale

President John Dramani Mahama has inspected ongoing works on a new cardiology centre under construction at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The project, being undertaken by the MahamaCares Ghana Medical Trust Fund, is designed to strengthen specialised healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.

The facility will provide advanced diagnosis and treatment for cardiovascular conditions, reducing the burden on patients who often travel long distances to access cardiac care in Accra or Kumasi. Once completed, the centre is expected to serve as a major hub for heart-related medical services in northern Ghana.

During the inspection, President Mahama reiterated government’s commitment to investing in modern health infrastructure to improve access to quality care nationwide. He emphasised that projects such as the cardiology centre form part of broader efforts to enhance outcomes and ensure equitable distribution of specialised medical services across the country.

The initiative reflects government’s focus on expanding centres of excellence in underserved regions, while complementing existing programmes under the Free Primary Health Care policy and the National Health Insurance Scheme.
