The Government of Ghana has announced the successful evacuation of its citizens from Israel, following recent tensions in the region.
In a Facebook post, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed that all Ghanaians who requested assistance have been safely flown back home.
“Our evacuation operation in Israel has been a success. We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel back home,” Ablakwa stated.
The minister explained that the operation also included diplomatic staff from Ghana’s Embassy in Tel Aviv, though a small number of essential personnel will remain to provide consular support. He expressed gratitude to both Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation in facilitating the evacuation.
The returnees arrived in Accra just hours before the announcement, where they were warmly welcomed. Ablakwa emphasized that the Mahama Administration remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of Ghanaians abroad, pledging continued efforts to ensure safe evacuations whenever necessary.
This latest operation underscores Ghana’s proactive stance in safeguarding its citizens during international crises, while maintaining diplomatic presence in regions of strategic importance.
