The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has met with the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban, to discuss measures to address the growing incidence of Nigerians involved in cybercrimes in the country.
The meeting, held in Accra, reviewed the outcomes of Ghana’s recent crackdown on cybercrime and explored avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation to safeguard the digital space.
Ambassador Iban expressed concern over the arrests of Nigerian nationals and pledged his country’s commitment to tackling the root causes of cybercrime. He emphasized the importance of protecting law-abiding Nigerians and strengthening border security, while urging Nigerians in Ghana to be good ambassadors of their country.
Hon. Samuel Nartey George underscored Ghana’s determination to secure its digital environment and highlighted the need for collaboration between both nations to combat cybercrime effectively.
The discussions reaffirmed the strong relationship between Ghana and Nigeria and highlighted their shared commitment to promoting a secure and trustworthy digital ecosystem.
