Agyapong Camp Sounds Alarm Over Ballot Transport Irregularities

The campaign team of Kennedy Agyapong, flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a security alert regarding the transportation of ballot papers ahead of the party’s internal elections.

In a press release signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Spokesperson for Security and Intelligence, the team expressed concern over reports that the Electoral Commission (EC) is using private vehicles to deliver ballot papers due to a shortage of official transport. While some of these vehicles bear EC stickers and are accompanied by police escorts, the statement alleges that in regions such as Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra, ballot papers have been spotted in transit without approved vehicles.

“We call for extreme vigilance from the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission,” the statement read. “The right measures must be put in place to ensure the election is free and fair.”

The release also cautioned against the circulation of old videos from the 2023 presidential primaries, warning that such content could unfairly influence delegates and stir disaffection. The team emphasized that the NPP’s internal contest must be conducted in a spirit of democracy, allowing delegates to freely choose their preferred candidate without intimidation or interference.

“Our intelligence gathering remains active on the ground,” the statement concluded, assuring the public of the campaign’s commitment to a transparent electoral process.

The alert comes as the NPP prepares for a crucial phase in its selection of a flagbearer for the 2026 general elections, with heightened scrutiny on the integrity of the process.
