GNFS Contain Fire Outbreak at Akwakrom, Salvage 11 Bedrooms

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a domestic fire outbreak at Akwakrom in the Central Region, preventing the destruction of a twelve-bedroom house.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at about 12:45 p.m. when the Dunkwa-On-Offin Fire Station received a distress call. A crew led by ASTNO Abaidoo was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene within five minutes.

Upon arrival, firefighters found one bedroom fully engulfed in flames. The team swiftly brought the situation under control and completely extinguished the fire at 1:11 p.m. Only one bedroom and its contents were affected, while eleven others were salvaged.

No injuries were recorded. Items saved included cash amounting to GH₵11,060.00 belonging to three occupants of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
