A violent altercation at Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Wa AMASS) has left a final-year student in critical condition, following a stabbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the school community.
The victim, identified as Iddrisu Ibrahim popularly known among peers as Lincoln—was reportedly attacked on Tuesday night by fellow final-year student Hafis, also known by the nickname Baayaawa.
According to eyewitness accounts, the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over a video Lincoln allegedly recorded of Hafis without his consent. When Hafis demanded the video be deleted, Lincoln reportedly refused, prompting Hafis to issue a threat to stab him. Lincoln is said to have dismissed the threat and dared Hafis to follow through.
The situation escalated rapidly when Hafis allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Lincoln in both the rib and stomach.
Following the attack, Hafis attempted to flee the scene. However, swift intervention by police officers amid reports that some students were mobilising for retaliation—prevented further violence. Hafis was arrested shortly afterward and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Despite his injuries, Lincoln reportedly managed to walk from the hostel area toward the school library before collapsing. A female student who witnessed the scene recounted that the knife was still lodged in his body when he emerged. It was removed by fellow students before he was rushed to the Wa Regional Hospital.
Medical personnel have described his condition as critical but stable.
Police investigations are ongoing. While school authorities have yet to issue an official statement, security presence on campus has been visibly increased to maintain calm and ensure the safety of students.
The incident has reignited concerns about student safety and discipline in senior high schools, with calls for stronger preventive measures and support systems to address rising tensions among students.
