Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has met with the outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, reaffirming the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting earlier today, discussions centered on strengthening South–South cooperation and deepening Ghana–India relations, which have seen significant progress in recent years. The Vice President highlighted the impact of the Indian Prime Minister’s recent visit, noting that it consolidated ties and opened new avenues for collaboration.
She underscored the steady growth of bilateral trade, expanding business engagements, and increasing investment flows, while also pointing to the strong people-to-people connections in education, sports, and cultural exchange as vital pillars of the partnership.
Looking ahead, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the need to diversify collaboration. She welcomed increased Indian investment in Ghana but stressed the importance of supporting Ghanaian businesses to explore opportunities in India, particularly as the country works to reduce excessive importation and build local capacity.
On education and healthcare, she called for tangible impacts from exchange programmes and expressed interest in learning from India’s advancements in affordable healthcare delivery, especially for citizens unable to travel abroad for treatment.
Although the High Commissioner departs Ghana, the Vice President assured him that the spirit of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and India remains strong. “Our relationship has stood the test of time and will continue to grow in strength and purpose,” she affirmed.
