Award-winning Ghanaian actor and film producer Joseph Van Vicker has filed a defamation suit against fellow actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, at the High Court in Accra.
Court documents indicate that the suit was filed at the General Jurisdiction Division of the High Court, with Van Vicker named as the plaintiff and Lil Win as the defendant.
In the writ of summons, Van Vicker is seeking a declaration that statements allegedly published by Lil Win in a video, particulars of which are contained in paragraphs 16 and 17 of the statement of claim, are libellous and defamatory.
The actor is also demanding exemplary damages of GH¢10 million for the alleged defamatory publication, in addition to general damages for libel.
According to the court documents, the plaintiff is further seeking an order compelling the defendant to publish a retraction and apology on news portals with the same prominence as the alleged defamatory publication for four consecutive weeks.
Van Vicker is also asking the court to award legal costs associated with the suit.
The statement of claim describes the plaintiff as a distinguished Ghanaian actor, film director and Chief Executive Officer of Sky + Orange Productions, an internationally recognised film production company.
The documents further outline Van Vicker’s extensive career in the entertainment industry, highlighting his work in both Ghana’s movie industry and Nigeria’s Nollywood sector, where he has featured in several notable productions alongside renowned actors.
The writ, issued by lawyer Ebenezer Asare of Troth Legal, was filed at the High Court in Accra on October 12, 2026.
Under the terms of the writ, Lil Win has been directed to enter an appearance within eight days after being served or risk a judgment being entered against him in his absence.
The case is expected to draw significant public attention given the prominence of both actors within Ghana’s entertainment industry.
