State Funeral To Be Held on August 15 For Victims of Helicopter Crash – President Mahama

President John Mahama has announced that a state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square in Accra to honour the eight individuals who perished in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

During a national broadcast from Jubilee House, President John Mahama announced that the country will host an Evening of Reflection and Memorial at the forecourt of the State House on Saturday, August 9, beginning at 5 p.m.

“These fallen heroes gave their lives in service to the nation. We must honor their legacy with the dignity and respect they deserve,” the president affirmed.

He further disclosed that Books of Condolence will be made available at several key institutions from Sunday, August 10, through Thursday, August 14, allowing citizens to pay their respects.

The designated locations include the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters, and the main office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The tragic incident claimed the lives of eight individuals, among them Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. The group was on an official mission when their Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter went down near Adansi Akrofuom
