Solve the country’s problems – Gyampo to Akufo-Addo

A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana has called on President Akufo-Addo to bring back hopes of Ghanaians.

Professor Ransford Gyampo made this assertion in a Facebook post on Thursday, 17 March 2022.

According to him, the president is supposed to solve problems and not explain problems in the country.

“For now, my focus is on the hard times in which we find ourselves. There may be several legitimate explanations accounting for the current tough times. But as the Hobbesian account of the generation of the Leviathan show, the essence of instituting a government, is not to explain, but to solve problems; so we do not relapse into the state of nature,” Professor Gyampo said.

However, he said the president should scale down the size of his government and cut off his payment by 30%.

“Reduce or completely suspend the payment of all the allowances and per diems that are given to people who already earn huge salaries (even when reduced by 30 percent)” Professor Gyampo indicated.

He added that government should have a reshuffle in the managers of the country’s finance and economy.

He further suggested that government taps into new ideas to help salvage the country.
