The Ministry of Roads and Highways has issued a strong disclaimer against a publication by BioNews, describing the report as “false, misleading, and a complete misrepresentation” of submissions made before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The BioNews article, titled “He Was Paying Contractors on Our Behalf Without Our Knowledge – Roads Ministry Director Reveals,” claimed that officials had admitted to unauthorized payments. In its response, the Ministry clarified that the submissions referenced by the outlet were strictly related to queries from the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report, which covered historical financial transactions within a defined audit period.
“These matters do not concern actions undertaken under the current leadership of the Ministry of Roads and Highways or the Ministry of Finance,” the statement stressed.
The Ministry has demanded a full retraction and an unqualified apology from BioNews, insisting that the disclaimer be published with the same prominence as the original article to correct the misinformation.
Signed by the Director of Finance, the statement underscores the Ministry’s commitment to transparency while rejecting what it calls “misleading reportage” that could undermine public confidence.
