Mahama Names Interim Defence and Environment Ministers After Fatal Helicopter Crash

In the wake of a devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two senior government officials, President John Dramani Mahama has swiftly moved to ensure continuity in leadership by reassigning key ministerial responsibilities.

The fatal accident occurred yesterday en route to an official event in Obuasi, tragically taking the lives of the Minister for Defence and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology. The nation mourns the loss of two dedicated public servants whose contributions to national development were widely respected.

In a press release issued on Thursday, August  7, the Office of the President announced that the Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will assume additional duties as Minister for Defence. Dr. Forson, known for his fiscal acumen and steady leadership, is expected to bring a stabilizing presence to the Defence Ministry during this difficult period.

Additionally, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Buah has been appointed to act as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology until further notice. Buah, who currently serves in another ministerial capacity, is recognized for his commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

The government has pledged a full investigation into the crash and assured the public that all necessary support will be provided to the bereaved families.
