President Mahama Leaves for AU Summit in Addis Ababa

President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

The President will lead a number of engagements for the Union, including discussions on Reparations, Gender, and Financial Inclusion. He is also scheduled to co-host several high-level side events during the Summit. On Saturday, President Mahama will host a breakfast event on the Accra Reset initiative, dubbed “Addis Reckoning.”

In addition to his AU duties, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral meetings with fellow African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations, as well as participate in the Italy–Africa Forum.

Also in Addis Ababa is the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will attend the Summit of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

President Mahama and the First Lady are expected to return to Accra on Monday, 16 February.
