Calm has been restored at Boadua in the Eastern South Region following a chieftaincy-related disturbance that threatened peace in the community, the Ghana Police Service has announced.
According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, police swiftly intervened after receiving complaints on Saturday, December 14, 2025, from members of the Bretuo Abusua of Boadua.
The complaints indicated that a group of people from the Boadua Aduana family had gone to the Boadua Chief’s Palace, damaged the main entrance and forcibly entered the premises. The group allegedly attempted to destroy a shrine in an effort to take over the palace from the Bretuo family amid an ongoing chieftaincy dispute.
Upon receiving the report, police officers were immediately dispatched to the area and successfully restored law and order at the palace, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Eight suspects have since been arrested to assist with investigations. They include Baffour Kwame Agyei Kwabena Twum, Baffour Kwame Annor, Baffour Kofi Dankwa, Maxwell Frimpong, Eric Dankwah, Nana Kwaku Frimpong, Baffour Kwasi Ampabeng and Baffour Yaw Anya.
The police stated that the suspects have been granted police enquiry bail and are expected to report on Thursday, December 18, 2025, as investigations continue.
The Regional Police Command has urged all parties involved in the dispute to remain calm and use lawful means to address their grievances, assuring the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.
