The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly shooting and injuring a traditional ruler of Adansi Dompoase during a funeral in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.
The suspect, identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa, was taken into custody on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after police officers on duty heard a gunshot and quickly intervened to disarm and arrest him.
During the operation, police retrieved an unregistered single-barrel gun loaded with ammunition from the suspect.
The injured traditional leader has since received medical treatment and been discharged. Meanwhile, police say the suspect remains in custody and will be arraigned before court to face justice.
