Police Arrest NPP Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe For Offensive Conduct

The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police confirmed that the outspoken Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was taken into custody earlier in the day. He is currently being held and is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.

Although the Police did not disclose the specific actions that triggered the arrest, the move comes amid heightened public attention on Mr. Baffoe following a series of controversial public statements and recent reports of his applications for political asylum in eight countries, citing alleged political persecution and threats to his life.

Police sources indicated that the arrest followed an invitation to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, where Mr. Baffoe was interrogated before being formally charged.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that due process will be followed as the case proceeds to court.
