Parliament Reviews Contract for Accra–Kumasi Expressway

The Committee on Roads and Transportation, chaired by Hon. Mensah Adjei, has met with the Leadership of the Committee on Finance to review the contract agreement for the construction of the Accra–Kumasi Expressway.

The proposed expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time and costs, create employment opportunities, and generate revenue for the state through monetization.

Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, underscored the national importance of road infrastructure development and expressed strong support for the project. He emphasized that the expressway would be a transformative addition to Ghana’s transport network.

Minister for Finance, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, confirmed that the project will receive full government funding under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme and is scheduled for completion within three years.

Committee Chairman Hon. Mensah Adjei reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to the project, describing it as a priority initiative. He assured stakeholders of the committee’s support to ensure its timely commencement and successful delivery.

The Accra–Kumasi Expressway is expected to become one of Ghana’s most significant infrastructure projects, enhancing connectivity between the country’s two largest cities and reinforcing economic growth.
