The Ranking Member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills, has called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen collaboration in order to improve internal controls and ensure accurate reporting of payments made to contractors.
He made the appeal during a public hearing of the Committee, where selected government institutions were invited to respond to issues raised in the Special Audit Report of the Auditor-General.
Hon. Atta-Mills emphasized that closer cooperation among MDAs would help eliminate discrepancies in financial records and enhance accountability in the management of public funds. He further urged the Auditor-General to undertake a comprehensive audit of outstanding balances, noting that such an exercise would promote transparency and reinforce confidence in public financial management.
The Ranking Member reiterated the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that public institutions adhere to financial regulations and maintain proper records, stressing that accountability remains central to good governance.
