The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of eight individuals who perished in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP described the loss as a devastating blow not only to the bereaved families but also to the entire nation. The victims were said to be individuals who had dedicated themselves to the service and development of the country.
“Their passing is not only a devastating blow to their families but also a profound loss to the entire nation they worked to protect and build,” the statement read.
The party extended its “deepest and most heartfelt condolences” to the bereaved families and offered prayers for strength and comfort during what it called an “excruciatingly difficult period.”
Calling for action, the NPP urged authorities to conduct a “thorough, transparent, and swift investigation” into the cause of the crash, stressing that the dignity of the lives lost demanded accountability to prevent such a tragedy from recurring.
“In this time of grief, we call on all Ghanaians to come together in unity, prayer, and compassion. Let us stand with the families left behind. Let us console and strengthen one another,” the statement urged.
The party concluded with a solemn tribute to the victims: “May the souls of these eight heroes rest in perfect peace until the last day of the Resurrection, when we shall meet again.”
The crash, which involved a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter, has shaken the nation, with reports indicating the deceased included high-profile government officials. Investigations into the incident are expected to begin immediately.
