NDC Congratulates NPP on Election of New National Executives

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the opposition party described the outcome of the NPP’s national elections as a positive development for Ghana’s democratic process.

“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) congratulates the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives over the weekend,” the statement said.

The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peaceful political engagement, democratic governance and the shared responsibility of political actors to safeguard and strengthen Ghana’s democratic achievements.

According to the party, democratic competition should be guided by the broader national interest rather than narrow partisan considerations.

The statement expressed the hope that under the leadership of the newly elected NPP executives, political parties would work together to ensure that Ghana’s development agenda remains paramount.

“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties, so the mission of making Ghana great and strong will be boosted,” the statement noted.

The message comes a day after former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, also congratulated the newly elected executives and pledged support for the party’s reorganisation efforts ahead of the 2028 general election.

Political observers say the exchange of goodwill messages between the country’s two major political parties reflects a commitment to democratic norms and peaceful political engagement as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle.
