National Sports College certifies over 30 participants in maiden strength and power training

A total of 35 participants have been trained in strength and power under the strength and conditioning module at the National Sports College, Winneba.

They were drawn from various sporting disciplines including football, armwrestling, athletics, weightlifting, physical instructors, and the media.

Dr Kyle Pierce, the course facilitator from Louisiana State University, Shreveport, thanked the participants for attending the training and urged them to utilize whatever knowledge they had acquired.

He assured them of continuous support from his base in the US and applauded their enthusiasm, calling it a positive step towards future achievements.

“My passion is coaching education. There is nothing more than the work of coaches. They help athletes get from one place to another whereas developing their skills,” he noted.

He commended the Director General and the senior staff for their commitment towards the development of sports in Ghana.

Mr Bawah Fuseini, Director of the National Sports College, assured the participants of the college’s efforts to develop the human capacity of sportsmen and women per their mandate as a college.

He said the coming year was going to be busy as they had lined up more needed and courses including sports law, sports administration and management, sports psychology and many other interesting courses.

He called on members of the sports fraternity to patronise their courses to be abreast with the current trends In sports sciences and administration.

Mr Selorm Fayise, a taekwondo athlete and martial arts coach who spoke on behalf of the participants thanked the organisers for the course and assured them that they would go and make meaningful impact in their various fields.

Participants were award with a certificate of participation.

Present were the Mr Emmanuel Appiah, Technical Director of the Sports College, Ms Felicia Antwi, Human Resource Manager, Ms Ethel Banoeyelle, Head of Administration, Mrs Florence Boateng, Head of Public Relations and other staff of the college.
