MoGCSP Strengthens Adoption Systems Through Stakeholders’ Engagement

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through the Central Adoption Authority (CAA), has held a Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting to enhance coordination, collaboration, and efficiency in Ghana’s adoption process.

Delivering the keynote address, Minister Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey reaffirmed government’s strategic commitment to strengthening adoption systems and ensuring compliance with both national and international frameworks. She described adoption as a critical child protection intervention guided by integrity, professionalism, and the best interests of every child.

Dr. Lartey emphasized the importance of building the capacity of frontline officers, improving accountability and transparency, and safeguarding children’s welfare through effective stakeholder collaboration. She urged participants to renew their collective responsibility to ensure every child grows up in a safe, permanent, and loving family environment.

The meeting featured a presentation on stakeholders’ roles and a panel discussion on “Building Effective Collaboration to Reduce Delays in the Adoption Process.” Institutions shared experiences and proposed practical solutions to strengthen adoption systems.

Children from the Osu Children’s Home added a cultural performance to the programme, highlighting the human dimension of adoption.

Closing the session, Chief Director of MoGCSP and Chairperson of the Central Adoption Board, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, commended stakeholders for their contributions. She stressed the need for sustained collaboration, adherence to procedures, and collective responsibility in safeguarding the best interests of every child.
