Manchester City and Real Madrid play out a seven goal thriller. The leaders of premier league, Manchester city, locked horns with the leaders of Spanish league, Real Madrid, in the first leg of the semi finals of the champions league.

The English side missed the services of Kyle Walker and João Cancelo due to injury and suspension respectively. The home side open the scoring just two minutes into the game after Riyad Mahrez went past three Madrid players before setting up Kevin De Bruyne.

Nine minutes later, the Belgium set up Gabriel Jesus for man city’s second on the night.

In the 33rd minute, Karim Benzema met a perfect cross from Ferland Mendy deep inside the box and controlled it with a nice first touch. The Frenchman produced an accurate strike into the bottom corner via the post.

Eight minutes after the recess, a lofted pass by Fernandinho found Phil Foden, who jumped highest and steered a close-range reader into the right side of the goal .In the 55th minute, vinicius Junior finished a beautiful solo goal with a superb strike from inside the box.

In the 74th minute, Bernardo Silva pounced on a loose ball in the box to make it 4-2 in favour of the home side. Aymeric Laporte handled the ball in the box in the eighty first minute. The resulting kick was slot home by Benzema with ease in a panenka style to make it 4-3.

The result hands last year finalist, city, a huge boost going into the second leg. The second leg will be played on 4th May, 2022 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester city will aim at making it two consecutive finals while Real Madrid will seek to make it to the final since 2018.
