The Majority Caucus in Parliament has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several distinguished Ghanaians, including former Member of Parliament, government officials, and officers of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Caucus extended its heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of those who perished in the crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
“It is with deeply broken heart and profound sorrow that we, the Majority Caucus in Parliament, extend our deepest condolences to the families, colleagues and loved ones of our colleagues and distinguished patriotic Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025,” the statement read.
The Majority Caucus paid tribute to the deceased for their selfless dedication to national service, describing their deaths as a monumental loss not only to Parliament but also to the entire country.
“Our former colleagues in Parliament and in government and the officers we have lost dedicated their lives to the service of our nation. Their untimely and tragic demise is a devastating blow to Parliament, the government, the armed forces, and the people of Ghana as a whole,” the statement added.
The Ghana Armed Forces helicopter was said to be transporting high-ranking officials to a programme on responsible mining in Obuasi when it tragically crashed. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the incident.
The Majority Caucus has called on the nation to unite in mourning and to honour the legacies of the departed, whose contributions to the country’s progress and democracy will never be forgotten.
