Mahama to Receive Constitutional Review Report on December 22

President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the long-anticipated final report of the Constitutional Review Committee will be delivered to him on December 22.

The Committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwesi Prempeh, has spent several months gathering views from across the country on suggested revisions to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

According to the President, the team had previously provided him with a briefing, sharing highlights of its initial findings during a meeting held three weeks earlier.

“They met me three weeks ago and made a presentation of some of the findings they were going to make. They are quite interesting. They intend to present the final results on December 22. Once the final report is presented, we will make it known to the rest of the nation,” he remarked during an engagement with the National Peace Council at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 10.

President Mahama also addressed a growing national conversation on the rights of Muslim students in mission schools. He underscored the need for respect for diversity within educational institutions, pointing out that existing agreements governing faith-based schools already provide for the accommodation of different religious practices.

Reaffirming his government’s stance, the President emphasized that all students, irrespective of their religious affiliation, must be treated with equity and dignity under Ghana’s educational and constitutional systems.
