Kotoko Charged Over Social Media Posts After Samartex Draw

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged Asante Kotoko SC following comments posted on the club’s official social media platforms after their goalless draw against FC Samartex on Matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League.

The incident stems from a controversial late penalty awarded to Samartex, which Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara saved to preserve the Porcupine Warriors’ unbeaten run. In its online reaction, the club challenged the referee’s decision, insisting that the foul occurred outside the penalty area.

According to the GFA’s charge sheet, the comments were considered inciteful and “likely to provoke hostility toward match officials.”

The case is expected to be heard by the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee, which will determine whether Kotoko breached the association’s regulations on public conduct and respect for referees.

This development has sparked debate among supporters and analysts, with many awaiting the Committee’s ruling and its potential impact on Kotoko’s campaign.
