Interior Minister Commissions Upper West Regional Police Headquarters

Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has commissioned the newly constructed Upper West Regional Police Headquarters in Wa, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening the region’s security architecture.

The facility, he noted, represents a significant boost to policing capacity and underscores the importance of collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the public in safeguarding peace and security.

Mubarak reaffirmed Government’s commitment to sustained investment in the Police Service, including logistics, mobility, communication systems, and infrastructure. He urged officers to exercise sound stewardship of these resources, stressing accountability, efficiency, and value for money in service delivery.

The Minister also called on traditional authorities, chiefs, and community members to actively support the Police Service, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility. He highlighted the role of community intelligence, conflict resolution, and youth guidance in maintaining peace and stability across the region.

Commending the men and women of the Ghana Police Service for their dedication and bravery, Mubarak appealed to the public to continue supporting and respecting them. “A police service that is embraced by its people becomes more confident, responsive, and effective,” he said.

The commissioning of the Regional Headquarters forms part of Government’s broader efforts to enhance security in the Upper West Region. The new facility is expected to improve rapid response, crime management, and inter-agency coordination—bringing policing closer to the people and reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement.
