Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama ,has committed to transparency in governance if elected into office.
At a town hall meeting on August 12, Mr. Mahama highlighted the importance of accountability for public officials, emphasizing their role in serving the nation and being answerable for their actions.
He stated that public office holders who abuse their positions should expect to face consequences. Mahama encouraged individuals seeking personal enrichment to explore private sector opportunities instead of seeking public office.
“If people want to come into government and make money then we can’t help you, go into the private centre, we will help you set up a cassava processing plant go and process cassava, employ young people, don’t and come and take public office.
“Once you take public office you must be prepared to be held to account,” he said.
He acknowledged the challenges of holding members of his own party or government accountable but stressed the need for accountability and combating corruption.”
