The Ministry of Health has directed all health facilities nationwide to immediately strengthen security measures following a baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the Ministry commended the swift response of the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and other stakeholders, including the whistleblower whose alert aided investigations.
Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to enforce strict day and night security protocols across hospitals and clinics. Facility administrators have been told to review and reinforce internal security arrangements without delay.
The directive also reemphasizes the government’s earlier order requiring all health facilities to install and maintain CCTV surveillance systems. Officials say this measure is critical to safeguarding patients and ensuring accountability within the health sector.
“The government remains firmly committed to protecting patients and restoring public confidence in our health facilities,” the statement read.
The Ministry has urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
