The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into allegations that a Customs officer at the Accra International Airport collected money from a traveller without issuing an official receipt.
In a public notice issued by the Authority, the GRA said it had taken note of a video circulating on social media in which a TikTok user identified as Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty alleged that a Customs officer at the airport extorted money from her.
According to the allegations contained in the video, the officer collected GH¢600 from the traveller without providing a receipt for the payment.
The GRA stated that it had commenced investigations into the matter and assured the public that the findings would be made known upon completion of the inquiry.
“The Authority has commenced investigation into the matter and will update the general public on the findings when completed,” the statement said.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate.
The development comes amid continued efforts by the GRA to strengthen transparency and ethical conduct within revenue collection and customs administration.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to determine whether any misconduct occurred and whether disciplinary or other appropriate actions may be required.
The GRA has urged the public to remain calm as investigations proceed, assuring stakeholders of its commitment to addressing any breaches of professional standards within the institution.
