Ghana has joined the global community in commemorating International Youth Day, with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment reaffirming its commitment to supporting young people across all regions and backgrounds.
While the global theme for this year’s celebration is “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” Ghana has localized the commemoration under the national theme: “Rebuilding Values, Inspiring Patriotism: Empowering the Youth in the Digital Age.”
The Ministry explained that the theme underscores the importance of nurturing responsible, innovative, and civic‑minded citizens equipped with digital skills to drive national development. It emphasized that young people are not merely future leaders but active agents of change contributing to Ghana’s social and economic transformation.
Highlighting the resilience and creativity of Ghanaian youth across business, technology, agriculture, the arts, sports, and public service, the Ministry noted that their contributions remain vital to the country’s progress.
In line with government’s vision for youth empowerment, the Ministry pledged to:
- Expand skills development and lifelong learning opportunities.
- Support youth entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Promote decent employment and economic inclusion.
- Strengthen youth participation in governance and civic engagement.
- Advance mental health awareness and psychosocial support.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment reiterated its role in coordinating policies that promote youth development and empowerment, stressing that today’s youth must harness digital opportunities responsibly while upholding values of integrity, discipline, hard work, and patriotism.
